Genre: Drama/Road Movie
Script idea and initial outline created in 2021, and the complete script written in 2023 from April to July.
We produced the short film between the 12th and 17th of July 2023, with post-production completed by the 8th September.
The production company was the University of York, UK.
It's a story of one’s journey of growth and acceptance, about loss and grief in life, and the lingering bitterness and endless courage of people confronting a turbulent life.
I emphasized that Ellie was a hard-of-hearing character and also an extraordinary individual with endless courage. She faced the challenges of life with fear and loneliness, continually sought to build new connections, and accepted the reality of an uncertain future filled with loss. When Ellie finally finds Sibyl with a bouquet, she reveals her bravery and romantic side, giving the film a touch of classical tragedy.
It highlighted how people connect with the world and each other, portrayed universal human emotions such as loss, sorrow, and confusion, and underscored the humanistic concerns for the hard-of-hearing and deaf communities.
